Background
The Refuge of Mercy is a home for adolescent mothers in Santiago Chile. The Sisters of Most Merciful Love founded this refuge in 1927 to address the unmet needs of adolescent mothers and their babies on the streets of Santiago
Most of these young women are victims of rape or incest. They are given psychological counseling to cope with the trauma they have experienced. They also receive spiritual guidance, the opportunity to finish grade or high school and to learn personal, mothering, and job skills.
Mission
Founded in 2005, The Merciful Love Connection focuses on the education of the mothers and the physical needs of the Refuge. The pillars of global vision, spirituality, and action guide our investment in the future of the Refuge.
This investment in the future of the Refuge is our number one goal. We believe investment in the future of the Refuge, our number one goal, will not only address more of the unmet needs by increasing capacity, but also lower the cost to support each person. Here are some stories of our members in action.
